On the Doorstep of Algonquin

While Bondi is situated away from the traffic on Highway 60, we are still just 10 minutes from the West Gate of Algonquin Provincial Park.

The Visitor Centre, Logging Museum and Art Gallery are must-see destinations in Algonquin, and just driving through the Park offers beautiful vistas and the chance to see wildlife. There are many hiking trails, suitable for all levels of ability and energy, including two trails that are wheelchair accessible.

Canoe rentals from Opeongo offer an easy day-use to see some of the Park interior, including the Tom Thompson memorial cairn, and guided canoe trips are available as well. Always canoe according to your abilities – cold water presents high risk, and the Park lakes freeze up in December and don’t thaw out until April or early May.

Spring is the time to visit if you hope to see moose. April and May are the prime months to see moose along the Highway 60 corridor, as they come out of the woods after a long winter seeking salt.

In winter, much of the Park facilities close down, but the ski trails then come into their own, varied trails that are groomed and track set. Snowshoeing is available on all the Park trails as well.

The Park Naturalists offer programming throughout the year, including the Wolf Howls in August.
